#StoriesofChange

The chronic disease of alcohol addiction can cause severe and enduring harm to an individual’s physical, mental, and emotional well-being, as well as their relationships and overall quality of life. This addiction may result in liver disease, depression, anxiety, and suicide. It can also lead to isolation, job loss, financial struggles, and endangerment of oneself and others. Moreover, alcoholic addiction can be a significant obstacle to personal growth and fulfillment. It is essential to seek help and support to overcome this addiction and live a healthy and satisfying life. Recently, we had the opportunity to interview Nanjappa, who has been sober for six and a half years after struggling with alcoholism and drug addiction for 25 years. Nanjappa had reached the point where his addiction was likely to end his life, causing immense agony for his family. After his wife shared their story and troubles with a volunteer from Make Society Smile, they took the initiative to help Nanjappa’s family. Through treatment, rehabilitation, counseling, and care, Nanjappa is slowly recovering and experiencing the joys of daily presence, spirituality, and love.
